Summary A rare combination of circumstances created a setting for high-dose radiation therapy to the transverse colon, leading to the development of carcinoma. This uncommon event must be considered a clinical curiosity and does not reflect unfavorably upon the need for or efficacy of post-operative radiation therapy in properly selected cases.
