Excitation of polyatomic molecules in vapor phase by noble-gas metastable atoms

Description
The fluorescence spectra originating from the first excited singlet states of the vapor phase dyes perylene and POPOP have been observed in a flowing noble-gas afterglow. Excitation has been shown to follow energy transfer from noble-gas metastable atoms to the dye molecule
