Cernavoda project status. NPP design
Description
Five nuclear generating units are under construction on the Cernavoda site. They will be equipped with 700 MWe CANDU reactors. Construction work was started by the AAC Consortium, whose members are the Canadian AECL, the Italian Ansaldo, and numerous national suppliers, between 1980 and 1986. As per April 20, 1994, unit 1 is 90% complete; unit 2, 32%; unit 3, 23%; unit 4, 12; unit 5, 8%. Unit 1 is to start commercial operation in April 1995, unit 2, in 1998. Compliance with international standards of the design and construction work was monitored in Osart missions performed by IAEA in 1991 and 1993. (orig.)

Auf dem Standort Cernavoda sind fuenf Kernkraftwerksbloecke im Bau. Sie werden mit 700-MWe-Candu-Reaktoren ausgeruestet. Die Bauarbeiten wurden vom Konsortium AAC aus kanadischer AECL und italienischer Ansaldo sowie zahlreichen nationalen Zulieferern zwischen 1980 und 1986 aufgenommen. Block 1 ist (Stand 20.4.94) zu 90%, Block 2 zu 32%, Block 3 zu 23%, Block 4 zu 12% und Block 5 zu 8% fertiggestellt. Block 1 soll im April 1995 seinen kommerziellen Betrieb aufnehmen, Block 2 im Jahre 1998. Dass der Bau internationalen Standards entspricht, wurde 1991 und 1993 durch Osart-Missionen der IAEO ueberwacht. (orig.)Additional details
