Quadrupole excitation of the Δ
Description
Two properties of the Δ are of tropical interest: The change of the Δ due to the nuclear medium, and the quadrupole excitation due to an intrinsic deformation predicted by a number of models for the nucleon. We discuss the physics related to these points, the information obtained from experiments of the past, and future experiments that promise to be much more sensitive and less subject to systematical errors.
