Experimental and theoretical study of the yields of radionuclides produced in 232Th thin targets irradiated by 100 and 800 MeV protons

  • 1. SSC Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

The values of more than 70 independent and cumulative yields of nuclides produced in 232Th irradiated by 100 MeV protons, and of the same number of the yields from 232Th irradiated by 800 MeV protons, have been determined by non-destructive high-resolution gamma spectrometry. The 27Al(p,x)24Na reaction was used as a monitor. The ASPRO and SIGMA codes were used together with the PCNUDAT nuclear database to process gamma spectra, to identify the nuclides, and to simulate the yields. The experimental results are compared with the reaction product yields calculated by the HETC, LAHET, INUCL, CEM95, CASCADE(JINR), and CASCADO(IPPE) codes that simulate hadron-nucleus interactions. For 100 MeV protons, the experimental data are compared with the yields simulated by the semi-empirical model and with calculation of the ALICE(IPPE) code. (author)
