Controlled termination of reversed field pinch discharges

Description
A method for avoiding rapid current termination and associated machine damage in RFP is described. During current decay an externally applied voltage removes toroidal flux giving constant THETA, hence maintaining field reversal and ideal MHD stability. (orig.)
