Transverse magnetic field effects on the relaxation time of the magnetization in Mn12 measured by 55Mn-NMR
Description
The longitudinal (HZ) and transverse (HT) magnetic field dependence of the relaxation time of the magnetization in Mn12 in its S=10 ground state was measured by NMR. The minima in the relaxation time at the fields for level crossing are due to the quantum tunneling of the magnetization. The shortening of the relaxation time under the application of HT is shown to be due mainly to the reduction of the energy barrier
