Report of the study group of heating of a plasma confined in a magnetic configuration of the tokamak type
Description
Cyclotron heating of a tokamak plasma is considered with and without a rotational transformation. The following three methods are shown to be applicable to tokamaks: (1) cyclotron heating of the plasma by a low-density resonant species, (2) cyclotron heating using a magnetic band effect, and (3) heating at ω = 2ω/sub ci/
