Investigation of thermal lensing in nuclear pumped lasers

Description

Optical inhomogeneities in the laser gas (caused by nonuniform pumping) prevent efficient extraction of laser energy in Nuclear Pumped Lasers (NPLs). We propose the combined wall and volume pumping scheme for reduction of the optical inhomogeneities. However, this scheme represents a delicate balance due to the fact that the lasing kinetics might be affected. Results from the investigation of combined pumping as a control technique are presented
