The influence of heat treatment on the structure of boron filaments

Description
Electron diffraction studies of boron filament surface layers show that they consist mainly of α rhombohedral boron both in a fine dispersed state and in a relatively coarse-grained state; β rhombohedral boron is found in a small amount in a fine dispersed state. Heat treatment of the boron filaments in either vacuum or chlorine changed their phase composition. The internal friction versus temperature spectra of the heat-treated filaments were recorded.
