Atmospheric dispersion of radionuclides released by a nuclear plant
Description
A numerical model has been developed to simulate the atmospheric dispersion of radionuclides released by a nuclear plant operating under normal conditions. The model, based on gaussian plume representation, accouts for and evaluates several factors which affect the concentraction of effluents in the atmosphere, such as: ressuspension, deposition, radioactive decay, energy and type of the radiation emitted, among others. The concentraction of effluents in the atmosphere is calculated for a uniform mesh of points around the plant, allowing the equivalent doses to be then evaluated. Simulations of the atmosphere dispersion of radioactive plumes of Cs137 and Ar41 have been performed assuming a constant rate of release, as expected from the normal operation of a nuclear plant. Finally, this work analyzes the equivalent doses at ground level due to the dispersion of Cs137 and Ar41, accumulated over one year and determines the isodose curves for a hypothetical site. (author)

Desenvolveu-se um modelo numerico que simula a dispersao atmosferica de radionuclideos liberados por uma instalacao nuclear em condicoes normais de operacao. O modelo, baseado numa pluma gaussiana, considera e analisa os efeitos de correcao na concentracao do efluente na atmosfera, tais como ressuspensao, deposicao no solo, decaimento radioativo e o tipo e energia da radiacao do radionuclideo liberado, dentre outros. Obtem-se a concentracao do efluente na atmosfera, em uma malha uniforme de pontos no espaco em torno da instalacao, e calculam-se as doses equivalentes recebidas nestes pontos. Simula-se a dispersao de plumas radioativas de Cs137 e Ar41 emitidas a uma taxa constante por uma instalacao nuclear que, em condicoes normais de operacao, libera continuamente seus efluentes para a atmosfera. Analisam-se as superficies da dose equivalente, para os radionuclideos Cs137 e Ar41, recebida ao longo de um ano de dispersao da pluma, na atmosfera, ao nivel do solo e, calculam-se suas curvas de isodoses em torno do sitio hipotetico em questao.
