Glitches in the rotation of pulsars

Description
A new extensive search for glitches was performed using the Jodrell Bank pulsar timing database. Using these new data and those already published we study the glitch activity of pulsars and the glitch size distribution. Results indicate that glitch activity varies among the pulsar population, decreasing significantly for pulsars with |ν|<5x10-15 Hz s-1. Vela-like pulsars stand appart of the general glitch size distribution presenting the largest glitches. The different glitching behaviours may be related to different conditions inside the neutron star, which could be driven by age or spindown evolution.
