Cadmium telluride gamma detectors with high energy resolution
Description
Possibility for improving energy resolution of telluride-cadmium gamma detectors at the expense of choosing geometry and sizes of a sensitive detector area is considered. Optimal relation of mobility product for electron life and the same product for holes for a spherical geometry detector is 102, for a cylindrical geometry detector this relation must be <= 10, for planar-about 1. Optimal values of large and small radii of the spherical detector are calculated. Using the results of the investigation performed detectors having hemispherical geometry of the sensitive area and energy resolution of which in the 100-1300 keV energy range is about 2% are fabricated
