Production and properties of metallic foams
- 1. GIK Inst. of Engineering Sciences and Technology Topi (Pakistan). Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering
Description
This paper deals with the production of metal foam samples using sintering dissolution process (SDP) that may have potential for manufacturing of filters and other structural applications. The net- shaped compacts were produced from pre specified Al and NaCl powder mixture by uniaxial pressing under different conditions. The results of different production parameters were optimized in order to achieve desired properties and good interconnectivity between the pores of the foam samples. The sintering parameters, properties and microstructure of pores were correlated to assess quality of the foam samples. (author)
