Description

Full text: We predict theoretically and verify experimentally that the filamentary process of ultrashort IR laser pulses propagating in a noble gas leads to the formation of nearly single cycle optical pulses, the peak intensity of which is clamped to the field ionization threshold. This suggests a very simple design to generate ultrashort, sub-femtosecond XUV optical pulses. (author)
