The possibilities of vaginal X-ray study

Creators

Description

A rare case of combined defect in the development of uterus and vagina is described where contrast roentgenography only is in a position to yield information of the vagina state. Apart from the formation of 'uterus didelphus cum vagina septa', there is also atresia of the right half of the septumized vagina. Filling of this partially closed cavity is attained only by penetration of the contrast substance through a communication between the two cervical tubes during routine hysterosalpingography. This observation, and sporadic literature reports on the issue as well, contend the generally affirmed statement in fundamental textbooks that the vagina is an object hardly lending itself to X-ray study. 10 refs.
