Application of a new tri-functional epoxy prepolymer,triglycidyl ethylen ether of bisphenol A in the coating of E24 steel in 3.5 % NaCl

Description

The present work describes the application of a new trifunctional epoxy prepolymer, triglycidyl ethylene ether of bisphenol A (TGEEBA), and its composite containing natural phosphate as a filler in the field of corrosion's protection of E24 steel in a marine environment (3.5 % NaCl). After the synthesis of the standard matrix, the trifunctional epoxy prepolymer was cross-linked with methylene dianiline (MDA) to give E1 (TGEEBA/MDA). A new formulation, E2 (TGEEBA/MDA/NP), was obtained by adding natural phosphate as a charge in the protecting matrix. Stationary and transient electrochemical studies were conducted. It was found that the value of the stationary efficiency reached was 96 % and 99 %, correspondingly, while that of the transient efficiency was 96 % and 97 %, respectively.Keywords: epoxy prepolymer, triglycidyl ether of ethylene of bisphenol A, coating, electro-chemical studies.
