Description
The magnetic penetration depth λ(T) was determined by means of positive-muon spin rotation and relaxation for YBa2Cu4O8 and Y2Ba4Cu7O15-δ samples with Tc's from 46 to 91 K. The extrapolated (T→0) spin relaxation rate (σ0∝λ(0)-2∝ns/m* for the superconducting condensate) increases almost linearly with Tc, similar to the linear increase previously found in YBa2Cu3Ox. Within the framework of models based on condensation of local pairs, the data indicate that the double-chain ribbons play a more active role in the superconductivity than as mere charge reservoirs.
