Ultrasonic machining of transition metals
Creators
Description
Regularities of refractory metals break-down under the influence of ultrasonic oscillation of the abrasive suspension are described. Correlative relationship between the treatment efficiency, a number of physico-mechanical properties of the treated materials and peculiarities of their electron structure is presented. The materials with relatively low modules of normal elasticity and having, therefore, high ductility cannot be well treated under the influence of ultrasonic oscillation of the abrasive suspension. The process of material treatment depends on its microhardness. In case of a pronounced tendency for a brittle failure which is accounted for by the electron structure peculiarities the efficiency of the ultrasonic treatment increases
