The geological archive of the Wismut GmbH

Forty-five years of most intensive geoscientific studies by the Wismut Company within the scope of uranium mining in Saxony and Thuringia yielded and enormous amount of geological, geophysical, hydrogeological and mining data. Because all data and documents of the Wismut Company were kept strictly secret, systematic archiving of this data was possible only after termination of uranium production in 1990. This task was taken over by the staff of the geological archives set up by Wismut GmbH in 1991 to pre-serve these partly unique documents and provide access to the public. Priority was given to the reports and the drilling records. (orig.)
