Outline of the safety research in JAERI. With emphasis on the safety of radioactive waste disposal

Description

Objectives of the safety research are to collect technical data for the safety criteria, guides, and licensing safety review, aiming at securing and enhancing the safety of the relevant facilities. The research subjects proposed by JAERI for the next five year annual plan of the safety research (2001-2005) are being outlined for both fields of nuclear fuel facility and radioactive waste disposal. In this presentation, a stress is put on the safety research of radioactive waste disposal. Other subjects related to the safety of nuclear fuel facility such as; criticality safety, confinement safety, and material maintenance, are briefly summarized. (author)
