Mixing enthalpies of liquid Au-Yb alloys

Description

The enthalpies of mixing of binary liquid alloys of gold with ytterbium were measured by solution calorimetry at 1463 K within a concentration range up to 45 at.% of Yb. The experimental data show exothermic effects of alloy formation that are in agreement with our previous data for the Cu-Yb and Ag-Yb liquid alloys. The minimum integral enthalpy of mixing is about -51 kJ mol-1 near the equiatomic composition
