Spontaneous and stimulated emission by free electrons
Description
The relatinships between the spontaneous and stimulated emission by coupled electrons (with a discrete energy spectrum) are well known in quantum electrodynamics. Similar relationships are derived here for free electrons (with a continuous energy spectrum) moving through a high-Q cavity whose energy spectrum is discrete. The relationships written down in both the classical and quantum forms are analyzed, and examples of their application are presented
