Gas-thermostated large liquid hydrogen target for experiments with a μ-meson beam
Description
A liquid hydrogen target, containing 250 l of liquid hydrogen with the ratio between the working space and the reserving one of 1.5:1 is described. A heat insulation of liquid hydrogen is executed with the help of radiation shield cooled by evaporating gas. The diameter of the beam windows is 30 cm. Mean quantity of hydrogen along the beam 14.35 g/cm2, amount of other matter along the beam is 0.75 g/cm2, across the beam is 2.75 g/cm2. Uncertainty in the target length is not more than 1,5%. The liquid hydrogen evaporation is 5 l/day. The operating time without refilling is 20 days
