Metal-insulator transition in the spinel-type Cu1-xMnxIr2S4 system

Description
A thiospinel CuIr2S4 exhibits a temperature-induced metal-insulator (M-I) transition around 230 K with a simultaneous spin-dimerization and charge-ordering transition although it is a three-dimensional system. The electronic and magnetic properties of mixed crystals Cu1-xMnxIr2S4 are presented, which is an example for A-site substitution system. Even in the metallic state, T>TM-I, the localized magnetic moment is observed with the antiferromagnetic negative Weiss temperature θ. The effective magnetic moment μeff is approximately 4.92 μB per Mn ion for 0.05≤x≤0.20
