Investigations to the formation of electron radiation fields by means of homogeneous absorber materials

Description

Proof of shielding and forming by absorbers was given by dosimetry in a water phantom. Alterations of isodose curves were measured in dependence on primary energy, as well as of thickness and density of the absorber materials. Piacryl or aluminium are not suitable for forming of irregular electron fields. They only effect a reduction of the therapeutic range. For primary energies of 10.0 ≤ MeV ≤ E0- ≤ 20.0 MeV lead rubber and wood metal in a thickness of ≤ 10 mm and ≤ 8 mm, respectively, are to be recommended. (author)
