Radioactive waste treatment semi liquid by segmentation method

  • 1. Pusat Teknologi Limbah Radioaktif - BATAN, Kawasan Puspiptek Gedung 50, Serpong, Tangerang Selatan (Indonesia)

Description

The treatment of resin waste from the ion exchange process has been carried out. Resin waste is resin that has been saturated as a result of being used to capture active ions in the reactor cooling water purification process, in addition to used resin from the liquid radioactive waste treatment process from the Center for Radioactive Waste Technology (PTLR). The used resin waste was immobilized using a cement matrix in a 950 1 concrete shell. The used resin was put in a 950 1 concrete shell and then immobilized using a mixture of Portland cement type 1, sand and water with a predetermined composition. Sampling of the mixture of used resin, cement and sand mixture is needed to determine the compressive strength and density of the results of the dough. Before being taken to the temporary storage facility, the treated waste in the 950 1 concrete shell is labeled with a description of surface radiation exposure, radiation exposure at a distance of 1 m, origin of the waste and date of processing. During 2020, 1040 liters of used resin have been immobilized from PST-BATAN, processing of liquid waste with ion exchangers and from PRSG-BATAN. Obtained 4 (four) pieces of processed waste in a 950 1 concrete shell. (author)
