N-(chlorothio)phthalimide and compounds prepared from it

  • 1. Research Institute for Chemicals for Polymeric Materials, Bereznik (USSR)

Description

A comprehensive IR and NMR study of the reactivity of N-(chlorothio)phthalimide and of compounds prepared from it revealed the possibility of the application of this sulfenyl chloride for the preparation of N-thio-substituted phthalimides and some other sulfur-containing compounds. In the main, N-(chlorothio)phthalimide reacts by the schemes known for alkane- and arene-sulfenyl chlorides. The presence of the reactive N-S bond in the molecule results in the further transformation of the reaction products with the elimination of the phthalimide fragment and the formation of sulfide compounds
