Filamentary instability of a relativistic electron beam in an anisotropic plasma

Description

The collisional beam-Weibel instability is explained in terms of unstable magnetostatic modes. Previous investigations are extended to include anisotropic distributions. The nonlinear evolution of beam filamentation is interpreted in terms of a theory of magnetostatic mode turbulence
