On the calculation of amplitudes of charged particle oscillations in hyperboloid mass spectrometers at pulsed power supply

Description
Calculation of charged particle oscillation amplitudes in hyperboloid mass-spectrometers under pulsed supply is given. Peculiarities of amplitude-phase characteristics are investigated. A simple expression for capture ellipse area is derived and ellipse position on phase plane is analysed. Relations allowing one to determined the possibility of charged particle capture under any initial coordinates and rates are deduced. The volume of capture region and its dependence on the inlet phase are determined for axial-symmetric analyser
