Modification of properties intermetallic phases with arrangement Ti-Al of the tetragonal zirconium oxide particles

Description
The study is compare with the modification of the properties of Ti3Al and TiAl by introducing ceramic particles of the tetragonal zirconium oxide (TZ-3Y). The aim of the investigation was the enlargement fracture toughness of sintered intermetallic phases. With the starting powders Ti3Al, TiAl, ZrO2 (TZ-3Y) received during sintered hot pressing Ti3Al+x%ZrO2, TiAl+x%ZrO2 (x = 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 wt.%) composites. Marked the physical properties of the Ti3Al+x%ZrO2, TiAl+x%ZrO2 composites, such as density, porosity, absorbability, phase constitution and strength properties: modulus of elasticity (E, G, ν), hardness, fracture toughness and crack energy. Also observations of microstructure have been carried out. During sintered hot pressing received materials of high hardness (HV) and high critical stress intensity factor (KIC): 710 HV 10, KIC = 45 MPam1/2 (value for Ti3Al=40% wt. ZrO2 composite); 586 HV 10, KIC = 126 MPam1/2 (value for TiAl+40% wt. ZrO2 composite). (author)
