Description
In this paper the kinetic theory for a weakly-collisional plasma immersed in a static magnetic field with no curvature is considered. In the plasma an electrostatic flute instability is excited causing an anomalous wave-particle collision frequency. In the special case of the lower-hybrid-drift instability a simple expression for this collision frequency is found containing the wave spectrum as a parameter. (author)
