Possibility of third-element-added UF6 isotope separation by thermal diffusion
Description
Possibility of UF6 isotope separation in the presence of third element(s) by thermal diffusion was examined by using calculation based on the modified Waldmann equation, revised for a multicomponent system, together with the differential method. It was found that the separation was much improved by the presence of both an inert gas and perfluoromethylcyclohexane. A one-meter-high column gives 5%-enriched UF6 and less than 0.1%-depleted UF6 in the steady state of the separation. (author)
