Film formation dependent magnetic anisotropy in Tb-Co Thin Film

  • 1. Korea Advanced Inst. of Science and Technology, Seoul (Republic of Korea)

Description

The magnetic anisotropy of Tb-Co thin film, which turns out to the dependent on film formation, is measured. When the sample, isolated from oxygen, is annealed at 300 deg C for 5-minutes, the perpendicular magnetization still decreases. The change of atomic pair distribution function by annealing which is measured by X-ray diffraction, indicates the irregularity of the pair distribution begins to disappear. When the structural anisotropy in the film plane is introduced by oblique deposition, the preferable magnetic direction in the plane is coincident with the slanting direction. Such a magnetic anosotropy. (Author)
