On possible suppression of the axion-hadron interactions

  • 1. AN SSSR, Novosibirsk. Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

A possible mechanism of high suppression of the axion-fermion interaction is considered. Two models in which this mechanism is realized are described in detail. It is shown that attenuation of the axion-quark interaction in the Weinberg-Salam model can be attained by expanding the Higgs theory sector or increasing the SU(2)sub(L)xU(1) calibration group. The model based on the SU(2)sub(L)xSU(2)sub(R)xU(1) calibration group is discussed. It is shown that the axion-quark coupling constant is of the approximately Gsup(1/2)msub(q)vsub(L)/usub(R) order, where vsub(L), usub(R) are the modules of vacuum average values of the corresponding left and right Higgs dublets and vsub(L) << usub(R). All other interactions connected with the left charged currents identically coincide with the standard model, and the neutral ones differ only in terms of the (vsub(L)/usub(R))sup(2) order. Limitations for the Higgs potential are discussed
