Coolant cleanup apparatus for nuclear reactors
Description
Purpose: To decrease the radiation exposure dose upon repairement of a nuclear power plant by eliminating claddings from reactor coolants. Constitution: An electromagnetic filter is connected to a hot leg pipeway and to a return pipeway of a coolant recycling system, in which iron oxides contained in coolants are readily adsorbed and caught on steel balls and radioactive nucleides are also caught readily together with the iron oxides in the electromagnetic filter. The coolants cleaned up by being eliminated with claddings are returned to the hot leg pipeway. In such a constitution, almost of the claddings are removed through the electromagentic filter, and the apparatus can be automated due to its simple operation and can be reduced in the size since the cleanup procession can be made at a high speed flow.
