Description
Diamond samples were bombarded by hydrogen ions with energy from 65 to 350 keV and annealed in vacuum in a graphite wall furnace from 200 to 1650 degrees centigrade. The structural transformations in H+-implanted diamonds were studied by optical spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance. The absorption bands with maximums at 380 and 530 nm were assigned to the defect-hydrogen complexes and intrinsic defects of diamond crystalline lattice. It was shown that no more then one third of implanted hydrogen forms IR-active CHx bonds in diamonds. A superparamagnetism phenomenon was observed in ESR spectra, which is not connected to the presence in the diamond the atoms of transition metals. (authors)
