Study of quenches and energy removal from UNK superconducting magnets
- 1. Gosudarstvennyj Komitet po Ispol'zovaniyu Atomnoj Ehnergii SSSR, Serpukhov. Inst. Fiziki Vysokikh Ehnergij
Description
At present for superconducting magnets of the IHEP UNK the protection and energy output system is studied. The SP magnet transition into normal state under effect of heaters for short models are investigated and tests on heaters for full-scale models of UNK SP dipole magnets are commenced. The short models have critical current of 7100-7200 A, maximum field in the SP coil of 7 T and accumulated energy of 140 kJ. The obtained experimental values of transition load do not exceed 9x106 A2xs and the corresponding maximum temperature of the coil calculated in the adiabatic approximation is <200 K that is less than the permissible value
