The behaviour of tritium in the water-steam cycle of an HTGR
Description
Intensive investigations into the behaviour of tritium under reactor conditions have been carried out for many years at the AVR high-temperature reactor. Part of the tritium diffuses from the helium circuit through the steam generator into the water-steam circuit. The measurements made in both circuits indicate that the steam generator acts as a store. By adding oxygen to the feedwater the permeation of tritium into the steam is considerably reduced. (author)
