Updated safety analyses of the LVR-15 research reactor

  • 1. Research Centre Řež, Řež (Czech Republic)

Description

This article describes in a shortened form the current state of the updated evaluation of the safety of the LVR-15 research reactor at the Research Centre Řež s.r.o. as contained in chap. 16 of the latest edition of the LVR-15 Reactor Operational Safety Report, 2018. A brief description of the basic reactor systems and characteristics of the used computational codes are followed by a list of the analysed initiating events of the design basis accidents, structured in line with the IAEA Safety Guide SSG-20. For illustration, the numerical and graphical results of analyses of four selected initiating events and their comparison with the acceptance criteria are presented in more detail. A summary of the results is provided in a tabular form, pointing out two scenarios for which certain operational regimes must be adopted in order to achieve compliance with the proposed acceptance criteria.
