Study on the theta-pinch in Ge
Description
THETA - pinch has been investigated experimentally in germanium samples with the intrinsic conductivity (nsub(i) 1.4 x 1014cm-3). In pinching an electron-hole plasma by a magnetic field, whose maximum strength (Hsub(max)=125kOe) is reached in 2.5 μ sec., the plasma density at the sample axis increases by a factor of 2.4. The radial distribution of the plasma density in the pinch has been measured. The results obtained are in reasonable agreement with theoretical predictions
