Description
A closed form expression for the heavy ion reaction cross-section, involving nuclear densities of colliding ions and the nucleon-nucleon cross-section has been obtained within the framework of Glauber model modified for the Coulomb field effect. This expression describes the 12C+12C reaction cross-section data reasonably well from low energies to 2 GeV/nucleon. Energy variation of the interaction radius and the reaction cross-section for the 16O+40Ca system is also reproduced by this model. (author). 19 refs., 5 figs
