Flow of a film of water in a vertical tube of large diameter traversed by an ascending airflow
Description
Numerous studies have been carried out on the flow of a liquid film descending in a vertical tube traversed by an ascending gas flow. However, these studies were made mainly for small diameter tubes, with a water injection at the wall, that is to say without spraying. As part of researches on underground gasification, work has been undertaken to cool the gasification gas, with the aim to cool the gas by spraying water. In underground gasification, large diameter pipes are used. It was therefore interesting to study the behavior of the liquid film in a large diameter tube where the liquid is sprayed down at the center of the tube. This study is a first approach to the problem of cooling an underground gasification gas, which benefits from the experiments carried out on the REGINE loop (gas cooling by water injection). In the first part, the different studies made on this subject are reviewed. Then, the installation and the experiments carried out are described. Finally, experimental values are compared with calculations made using the different proposed correlations.
Abstract (French)
De nombreuses etudes ont porte sur l'ecoulement d'un film liquide descendant dans un tube vertical parcouru par un debit de gaz ascendant. Ces etudes ont ete faites principalement pour des tubes de petit diametre, avec une injection d'eau a la paroi, c'est-a-dire sans pulverisation. Dans le cadre des recherches touchant la gazeification souterraine, des travaux ont ete entrepris pour refroidir le gaz de gazeification. On espere pouvoir refroidir le gaz par une pulverisation d'eau. En gazeification souterraine on utilise des tubes de grand diametre. Il etait donc interessant d'etudier le comportement du film liquide dans un tube de grand diametre ou le liquide est pulverise vers le bas, au centre du tube. Cette etude constitue une premiere approche du probleme de refroidissement du gaz de gazeification souterraine, qui beneficie des experiences effectuees sur la boucle REGINE (refroidissement des gaz par injection d'eau). Dans une premiere partie, nous rappellerons les differentes etudes faites a ce sujet. Puis, nous decrirons l'installation que nous avons realisee et les experiences que nous avons effectuees. Enfin, nous comparerons nos valeurs experimentales avec celles calculees a l'aide des differentes correlations proposees.Files
