Electro-magnetic interaction of 2G high temperature superconducting cable when introduced in an electro dynamic suspension type MAGLEV

  • 1. Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand (India)

Description

Second generation (2G) High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) cables as a medium of power transmission in MAGLEVs can prove to be a successful game changer. The Electro Dynamic Suspension (EDS) type L0 series of the MAGLEV operational in Japan has recorded a maximum speed of 603 km/hr proving to be a reliable, high-speed medium of transport. The current study aims to determine the compatibility of HTS in the MAGLEV without hampering the magnetic interaction of the superconductors and the electromagnets present along the guide-walls. The numerical electro-magnetic analysis of HTS cable with other magnets is established through COMSOL Multiphysics environment. (author)
