Description

The radiolysis of binary system: alcohols-thioalcohols at various ratioes of the components has been investigated. The regularities of the formation and the values of the yields of the corresponding paramagnetic centers (PMC) have been established. As example for the system phenylpropanol-phenylpropanethiol it is shown that the PMC yield in pure phenylpropanol is equal to 1.4x1/100 ev and decreases to 0.92 at the esub(SH)=0.465. The protective action of the thiols by scavenging both positive and negative charges and by their ability to excitation quenching is of scientific and practical interest. (author)
