Research Report of HANARO and Utilization Facility Management (2012-2014)

Description

HANARO is the multi-purpose research reactor that CNRF(Cold Neutron Research Facility) and FTL(Fuel Test Loop) run in parallel. It aims at providing with a research resource to various fields of science, technology and industry and eventually improving the social welfare by safe and effective operation of HANARO and related facility. HANARO operates safely and effectively by improving performance under the advanced technology of operation and maintenance. HANARO has been developing the technologies whereby it improves facilities performance and safety and that has been contributing the exportation of reactor technologies making use of accumulated technologies. The operative goal of the period from 2012 to 2014 was the safe, stable and effective operation of HANARO and continuous service provision for neutron research facility by facility improvement. Main objectives of facility improvement in year 2012 were to replace industrial safety systems in the reactor hall and ceiling material to eco-friendly finishing in the main control room. For operator's safety in the control room seismic-resistant construction such as lamp, desk, CCTV, OWS replacement was done in 2013. In 2014, MLC(Multi-loop Controller) was replaced into a new one(HCCS, Hanaro Control Computer System). It has been 20 years since HANARO achieved the first criticality. The program for aging management, thorough periodic inspections, PSR(Periodic Safety Review) and mid-long term plan for budget should be established.
