Model of uranium and fission-product behaviour
Description
To interpret the isotopic analyses and the determinations of the fission products assumptions must be made about the course of the nuclear reactions. The simplest approach is to assume that everything remained in place and that the number of fissionable nuclei decrease exponentially, but the reality may have been more complex. In particular, the author examines the possibility that uranium continued to be deposited after the start of the reactions. On this hypothesis, for given isotopic compositions of the uranium and neodymium at the end of the reaction, higher fluences and lower conversion coefficients would be found. In the light of the results, it does not appear that uranium continued to be deposited to a significant extent
