Creators

Description

A brief characteristic is given of the current state of the disposal of radioactive wastes from nuclear power plants based on the systems approach and a realistic evaluation of the approach is made. Two successive targ ets of the solution of the given problem are formulated: 1. safeguarding the system of waste disposal in such a manner as to make waste generation a negligible hazard as compared with other human activities, 2. the development and implementation of such a system which optimally solves the problem at the current level of science and technology. Possible solutions are discussed in their inter-relations. (B.S.)
