Description
LHCb is a Large Hadron Collider Beauty Experiment in preparation at CERN, which plans to start taking data as soon as the LHC machine becomes operational. It is dedicated for precision measurements of CP violation and Rare Decays. A brief overview of the LHCb experiment is given, including physics motivation, the design of the experiment and the corresponding detector with an emphasis on the calorimeter part, trigger and physics performance. The LHCb hadron calorimeter prototype together with some test beam results are also presented. (author)
