Description
We first review the Extended Random Phase Approximation [1] as a suitable tool to study the properties of the lowest-lying states in even even nuclei and discuss its area of applicability. Then we proceed with the topic of the core-particle coupling in odd-A nuclei derived using the Extended Boxon Approximation in terms of quasiparticles and phonons [2, 3]. The main focus of the talk will be on the effects of the presented theory on a number of measurable quantities in odd-even nuclei such as the energy spectrum, transition probabilities and spectroscopic factors.
